Estimator (Fabrication)

Senior Salmon are recruiting for a great new Permanent Vacancy for our client’s fabrication business working within architectural metalwork and structural steelwork.

We are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team and take responsibility for estimating a wide range of fabrication projects and to grow with the business into a potential directorship role.

The role is not a desk-based estimating position so we need candidates who are happy to travel and who are commercially confident with the ability to carry out site surveys, develop practical solutions and confidently represent our client in sales meetings.

Duties will include:

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and customer enquiries.
• Preparing accurate estimates
• Producing material and labour take-offs.
• Obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Identifying fabrication methods, bought-out items, finishes, installation requirements and other project costs.
• Carrying out site surveys and taking accurate site dimensions.
• Meeting customers to discuss requirements and develop commercially viable solutions.
• Presenting quotations and proposals confidently to customers.
• Identifying value-engineering opportunities where appropriate.
• Liaising with our technical and production teams to ensure quoted projects can be efficiently manufactured and installed.
• Providing a clear handover once an order is secured.
• Maintaining accurate estimating and quotation records.

Due to the nature of the role, we need candidates with the following experience:

• Architectural metalwork
• Structural and secondary steelwork
• Sheet metal fabrication
• Laser-cut and folded components
• Site installation
• Ability to read engineering and architectural drawings

Rate of Pay
